Late Flag City Rally Erases Scouts' Early Lead
Jack Drew's two-run homer highlights Xenia's offense in road loss
FINDLAY, Ohio – The Xenia Scouts carried a three-run lead into the bottom of the fifth inning Thursday night, but the Flag City Sluggers rallied with six unanswered runs to earn a 6-3 victory.
Behind a strong start from Dylan Frymoyer and timely offense, the Scouts built a 3-0 advantage before Flag City slowly chipped away and took the lead in the eighth inning.
After four scoreless innings from both teams, Xenia broke through in the fifth. Owen Roether lined an RBI single up the middle to score Bo Solley before Jack Drew launched a two-run home run to give the Scouts a 3-0 lead.
The Sluggers answered with a run in the bottom of the fifth before adding a sacrifice fly in the sixth and another in the seventh to even the score at 3-3. Flag City completed the comeback in the eighth, using an RBI single, another run-scoring single and an RBI groundout to take a 6-3 lead.
Drew led the Scouts offensively with his two-run home run, while Roether added an RBI single. Solley reached base three times, and Steven Schneider, Gabe Mathison and Cayden Calloway each collected hits as Xenia finished with six hits.
On the mound, Frymoyer delivered four scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out one. Caleb Shreve followed with 2.1 innings of relief before Ryan Redding was charged with the loss. Adam Laski recorded the final three outs for the Scouts.
The Scouts play the Lima Locos at home on Friday to begin a new series.
