Scouts Break Through with 12-5 Road Victory Over Joes

HAMILTON, Ohio – The Xenia Scouts erupted for a season-high 12 runs Saturday evening, defeating the Hamilton Joes 12-5.

Xenia scored in six different innings and built an early four-run advantage before adding four more runs in the sixth and three in the ninth to pull away.

The Scouts opened the scoring in the second inning when Cole Rohlmeier drew a bases-loaded walk before another run crossed on a wild pitch. Owen Roether extended the lead in the fourth with a two-run single, giving Xenia a 4-0 advantage.

Hamilton trimmed the deficit to 5-3 after five innings, but the Scouts answered with four runs in the sixth. Drew Snipes drove in a run with a bases-loaded walk, two more runs scored on wild pitches and Steven Schneider added a sacrifice fly to push the lead to 9-3.

Xenia added three insurance runs in the ninth behind an RBI single from Snipes, an RBI single from Ethan Moore and a sacrifice fly from Cooper Schutte.

Schneider and Ethan Papalios each collected two hits, while Roether finished with two hits and two RBIs. Snipes drove in two runs and reached base four times, while Jack Drew scored three runs. Mayo Fernandez reached base four times with four walks, and the Scouts stole eight bases in the victory.

The pitching staff combined to limit Hamilton to just three hits. Trey Tipton struck out six over three scoreless innings to start the game before Adam Laski earned the win. Logan Bach followed with three scoreless, hitless innings, striking out three.

The Scouts return home to face the Joes at home as they look at take the series.
