Scouts Drop Tight Contest to Joes
Scouts held to one hit in pitcher's duel against Hamilton
HAMILTON, Ohio – The Xenia Scouts were limited to one hit Saturday evening as the Hamilton Joes claimed a 2-0 victory at Foundation Field.
Despite another quality outing on the mound, the Scouts were unable to generate enough offense in a tightly contested game that remained scoreless through the opening two innings.
Hamilton broke through in the third inning, taking advantage of a wild pitch before adding another run on a fielder's choice to build a 2-0 lead.
Jaydon Geraci turned in a solid performance, allowing two runs over 5.1 innings while scattering five hits and striking out two. Gabe Mathison recorded the final two outs of the game after Mack Skeels worked through a pair of walks in the sixth.
Trey Tipton collected Xenia's lone hit of the contest, while Bo Solley reached base twice on walks. The Scouts also drew four walks but were unable to capitalize on their scoring opportunities.
Hamilton's pitching staff combined to hold Xenia to one hit while striking out seven to complete the shutout.
The Scouts return home on Sunday to play the Joes in the final game of the series.
