Locos Use Late Surge to Defeat Scouts
Dylan Frymoyer's strong start keeps game score
LIMA, Ohio – The Xenia Scouts were locked in a scoreless battle through six innings Friday night before a five-run seventh inning propelled the Lima Locos to a 5-2 victory.
The Scouts received another strong pitching performance and briefly held the lead in the seventh inning, but Lima responded with five runs in the bottom half of the frame to secure the win.
Dylan Frymoyer set the tone early for Xenia, limiting the Locos to just one hit across 4.1 scoreless innings while striking out two. The Scouts' pitching staff combined to hold Lima scoreless through the first six innings of play.
Xenia broke through in the top of the seventh when Zachary Pearrow delivered an RBI single to score Gabe Mathison and give the Scouts a 1-0 advantage.
The Locos answered immediately in the bottom half of the inning. A sacrifice fly tied the game before they delivered a three-run double to break it open. Lima added another run later in the inning to build a 5-1 lead.
Pearrow accounted for Xenia's lone RBI, while Drew Snipes recorded two of the Scouts' four hits. Mathison added a hit and scored a run as Xenia battled throughout the contest.
On the mound, Frymoyer turned in one of his strongest outings of the season, while Ryan Redding (1-1) was charged with the loss.
The Scouts face the Locos again on Saturday night in Lima.
