Scouts Explode for 11 Early Runs in Victory Over Clippers
Bo Solley drives in five runs as the Scouts build an early lead
XENIA, Ohio – The Xenia Scouts used a pair of explosive offensive innings Thursday night, defeating the Muskegon Clippers 12-6 at Grady's Field.
After falling behind in the opening inning, the Scouts responded with four runs in the second and seven more in the third to build an 11-1 advantage and take control of the contest.
Muskegon struck first with a run in the top of the first, but Xenia answered immediately. Bo Solley delivered a two-run double during a four-run second inning before Cole Rohlmeier added an RBI double to put the Scouts in front.
The offense continued to roll in the third. Steven Schneider opened the scoring with an RBI double before Solley added another two-run single. Ethan Papalios and Cayden Calloway each drove in runs, and Zachary Pearrow capped the frame with a two-run single as Xenia pushed its lead to 11-1.
The Scouts added another run in the sixth inning when Solley collected his fifth RBI of the night with a run-scoring single to center field.
Solley led the offense with a 3-for-3 performance, five RBI and two runs scored. Rohlmeier added two hits and an RBI, while Schneider, Ethan Papalios and Pearrow each contributed run-producing hits. Drew Snipes scored three runs, and the Scouts finished with 12 hits on the evening.
Starting pitcher Trey Tipton (2-1) went 6.1 innings, allowing only one run while striking outr allowing one run across 6.1 innings while striking out seven. Caleb Shreve recorded the final two outs as the Scouts secured the win.
The victory improves Xenia to 6-5 on the season as the Scouts continue Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League play.
