Scouts Erase Six-Run Deficit in Walk-Off Victory
Schneider homers twice while Pearrow delivers game winning RBI
XENIA, Ohio – The Xenia Scouts overcame a six-run deficit and completed a dramatic comeback Friday night, defeating the Michigan Monarchs 14-13 on a walk-off RBI single from Zachary Pearrow at Grady's Field.
Trailing 6-12 in the sixth inning, the Scouts steadily chipped away before scoring four runs over the final two innings to secure their third victory of the season.
Michigan jumped out to an early lead, scoring five runs in the second inning and extending their advantage to 12-6 through six innings. Xenia refused to give up, answering throughout the contest and remaining within striking distance thanks to timely hitting and aggressive baserunning.
Steven Schneider sparked the offense with a solo home run in the second inning before adding another solo shot in the fourth. The center fielder finished 3-for-3 with three RBI, three runs scored and two home runs.
The Scouts continued their comeback effort in the sixth inning, scoring three runs to cut the deficit to 12-9. Gavin Kent added an RBI single in the seventh before Owen Roether delivered a two-run single in the eighth and Cole Rohlmeier followed with a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 13-13.
In the ninth inning, Cooper Schutte scored the winning run when Pearrow lined a single to center field, completing the comeback and sending the Scouts home with a 14-13 victory.
Pearrow finished 3-for-6 with three RBI, while Kent recorded two hits and three RBI. Roether added two RBI, and Dawson Cleveland crossed the plate three times as Xenia totaled 12 hits and 14 runs.
On the mound, Adam Laski (1-0) earned the victory after providing 3.2 innings of relief and allowing just one unearned run while striking out two.
The Scouts face the Monarchs again on Saturday night as they look to take the series.
