Bio

Jess is a celebrated college player who spent time at the University of Alabama-Birmingham and Mississippi State University.  He has also played with the Athletes in Action team in the Alaska Baseball League, the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks.

(2022)Mississippi St:  Appeared in 33 games, starting 21 as the centerfielder...Hit for a .222 average on 18 hits, six of them being doubles and one home run...Drove in 12 RBIs and drew 11 walks.

Had a 1-for-2 day with a double and two runs scored...drew two walks and stole a base. Georgia (3/18-20): Went 2-for-5 with a double and HBP in game three, scoring a run while driving in three RBIs. Missouri (4/29-5/1): In game one; scored two runs on a 1-for-3 day, while also reaching on a walk. Texas A&M (5/13-15): Hit a two-run homerun in game two against the Aggies. 

(2021)UAB:  Appeared and started in all 54 games…Batted .258 with 48 hits, 39 runs, seven doubles, one triple, three home runs and 30 RBIs…Held a perfect fielding percentage with 186 putout and one assist in centerfield…Had a season-high four hits versus Alabama A&M on Feb. 26, also drove in three runs during the game…Second on the team with 23 steals on the season…Has 77 career stolen bases, which ranked third all-time in UAB program history.

(2020)UAB:  Season cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic…Appeared and started in all 16 games…Posted a .290 batting average with 20 hits, 11 runs, five doubles, one triple, one home run and 12 RBIs…Had a .435 slugging percentage and .342 on-base percentage…Held a .955 fielding percentage with 41 putouts and one assist.

2019)UAB:  Appeared in all 56 games, starting in 54 of them…Selected to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team…Finished second in the country and led the conference with 48 stolen bases on the year…Second most hits (64) and doubles (14) for the Blazers on the season…Batted .296 with five home runs, 34 RBIs and 50 runs scored…Tallied a career-high four hits in a 4-for-5 effort with a homerun, an RBI and two runs scored in an 11-4 series-clinching win at FIU (5/5)...Had 12 multi-steal games, highlighted by swiping a career-high five bags on five attempts in a 13-5 win over SIUE (2/16) to finish a sweep…Went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored on top of the five steals in the final game of the SIUE series…Also stole four bases on four attempts in both wins over Alabama State (2/27, 5/1)...Posted a .970 fielding percentage…Named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll.

High School:  Played at Kearney High School in Kearney, Missouri…As a senior, hit .486 with seven doubles, two home runs, 13 triples and swiped 20 bases…His 13 triples broke the Missouri High School State Record for triples in a season…Named First Team All-State and All-Conference as an outfielder his senior season…Also excelled in football…As a senior, had 83 catches for 1,539 yards and 18 touchdowns…Holds eight Kearney High School receiving records…Named First Team All-State, All-District and All-Conference as a senior…Helped team the 2015 State Championship and finished runner-up in 2016.

Personal:  Born on Dec. 7 in Kearney, Missouri…Son of Mark and Christine Davis…Older brother, Zack, played baseball at UAB…Father played football and baseball at Nebraska from 1982-85 and went on to play professionally for the Minnesota Twins and St. Louis Cardinals organization…Older brother, Cole, played quarterback at North Dakota State where he has been a member of three FCS National Championship teams…Majoring in business.
